Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to help make paper angels for the Adopt-An-Angel project October 24-November 10, 2011- Mon-Friday between 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Contact Joy Bergen at 931-552-5350. Ages 14-Adult.
Ajax Turner Senior Center is seeking volunteers to help with lunch preparation from 6:00 am-2:00 pm. Shifts may be divided. Contact Anita Atchley at 931-648-1345.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking adult male mentors for children ages 6-15. Children enrolled in the program are often from single parent homes, living with relatives or have an incarcerated parent. Volunteers are asked to make a 4-8 hour a month commitment to the program. Education Foundation is seeking volunteers to help with "Reality Check", a real life simulation activity designed to provide 9th grade students the opportunity to experience life as if they were 25 years old and providing sole or primary support to a household. Volunteers will staff "reality check" stations that include: grocery shopping, applying for a job, paying taxes, housing, purchasing a car, finding daycare, etc. The program is being held in 7 Clarksville-Montgomery County High Schools October 20-November 22, 2011. A Connecting for Good Resource Fair will be held on November 8, 2011 from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. at the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, 25 Jefferson Street. The event will showcase local nonprofit organizations and associations that support the community. It is a one-stop event for businesses and nonprofits to learn about each other, collaborate and find new ways to increase community impact and sustainability for the future. The event is sponsored by the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce and Hemlock Semiconductor Young Professionals Group.
